100+ Year Relationship Spawns New Collection
Old Hickory and Yellowstone National Park Lodges Introduce New Furniture Collection; Raise Funds for Yellowstone Park Foundation
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (March 7, 2008) – Old Hickory Furniture Company and Yellowstone National Park Lodges, operated by Xanterra Parks & Resorts, announce today the introduction of a new furniture collection launching at the High Point Furniture Market in celebration of its more than 100 year relationship with the Yellowstone National Lodges and Old Faithful Inn. The limited edition Yellowstone Collection, which features complete bedroom, bedding and select accessory items, showcases the company’s signature hickory sapling style rustic design, which it’s handcrafted in Indiana for more than 108 years. A portion of the sales of the new Yellowstone Collection by Old Hickory will go to the Yellowstone Park Foundation to aid in preserving the Park’s natural treasures.
Since 1904, Old Hickory furniture has graced lodges in Yellowstone. In fact, original chairs in the Old Faithful Inn dining room are still in use today. Standing the test of time is a hallmark of Old Hickory furniture. The Old Faithful Inn’s century of use, along with other national park locations, has earned Old Hickory the reputation as a leading source in rustic furnishings built for generations.
“It has always been one of our goals to provide memorable experiences
to our guests,” says Jim McCaleb, general manager for Xanterra in Yellowstone. “People who purchase items from the Yellowstone Collection are sure to fondly remember their visit to the world’s first national park whenever they use these pieces. And we’re especially pleased that a portion of the proceeds will support the great work of the Yellowstone Park Foundation.”
Xanterra will display the collection in the Lodge’s gift shop and its online gift shop, The new collection features 15 newly designed items. Each item is a limited edition and will feature a special brass name plate signifying its authenticity as part of the Yellowstone Collection by Old Hickory Furniture. Featuring the natural beauty of hickory sapling, the line is a complete bedroom suite of handmade furniture, including the master bed and bedding (shown), nightstand, bench, dresser with mirror, five drawer chest, desk, chair, lamp, wall rick, waste basket, pencil holder, walking stick, frame and print, plus luxurious bedding (shown).
“One of our greatest treasures is our relationships with the Inns of our country’s national parks,” says Bob Morrison, vice president of sales and marketing, Old Hickory Furniture. “Celebrating one of those relationships with this new collection is resulting in one of our most exciting furniture offerings. We know that retailers and customers across the nation will appreciate the special qualities of this collection.”
Along with sales directly at the Inn, Old Hickory Furniture is offering the collection for sale through its complete network of nearly 400 retailers nationwide. A proceed of sales will also be donated to the non-profit Yellowstone Park Foundation by Old Hickory. “Xanterra Parks & Resorts is one of our longtime valued corporate supporters,” says Paul A. Zambernardi, executive direction of the Yellowstone Park Foundation. “We are delighted that this collaboration brings the Foundation not only a new donor in Old Hickory Furniture, but a compelling new way to raise additional funds through this unique furniture collection. The work we do is dependant on the generosity of companies like Xanterra and Old Hickory. We could not be more excited to be included in this outstanding opportunity.”
